Russia, 1836: Valuation in Prussian Thaler

DSQ

1836 Platina Yield: 4,722.078 Funt = 62,171.44 Ozt. = 1,933.748 Kgs. = 8269.8 Marks, where 1 Mark = 7.5178 Ozt.

1836: Platina Yield: 118.05 Poud = 4,722 Funt = 62,170.41 Ozt.

1836: Platina Yield: 118.116 Poud = 4,265.5 Lbs avd. = 62,205 Ozt

Likely erroneous:

Illustrating market confusion and attempted price discovery, contemporary traders monitored the Russian mint value (or producer price.) Merchants would have calculated prices of platinum in their own and others currencies, seeking any competitive advantages or disadvantages (for arbitrage), and such rough approximations would have been meaningless.

This valuation of Platina/Platinum was far above the market price in any of these currencies; that may have encouraged the speculation, corruption and smuggling at lower prices that was noted by contemporaries.

Where 118 poods = 62,140 Troy Ounces, 1 Cologne Mark = 7.5167 Troy Ounces, and
~ 660,800 Prussian Thaler = £ 99,120. (huge discrepancies, for rough estimates!)

1 Troy Oz. Silver = 1.86 Thl (Silver?) @ 1Thl. (Silver) = £ 0.15, thus £ 0.279:

1 Troy Oz. Platinum ~ Thlr. 9.31 (Silver?) - Thlr. 10.63 (Silver)

1836: 1 Troy Oz. Platinum (hypothetical) ~ USD$ 7.38- 8.25
1836: 1 Ozt. Platinum (refined, Thaler-priced) ~ £ 1.60 (USD$ 7.71)
1836: 1 Ozt. Platinum (refined @ Paris) ~ Fr 29. - 32. (USD$ 5.50 - 6.)

Where 110 pouds = 57,930 English Troy Ounces, and converting Thalers (£55,350.) the Au/Pt/AgRatio would appear 1:4.38:15.01, where Pt was now 3.425 more than Ag.

1835: 1 Troy Oz. platina (est. SPb ore?) = £ 0.955 (USD$ 4.604)

1835: 1 Troy Oz. Silver (est. SPb ore) = £ 0.2789 (USD$ 1.34)
1835: 1 Troy Oz. Gold (est. SPb ore) = £ 4.1875 (USD$ 20.18)

The following English mis-estimation grossly overvalues Platinum in Dollars.

118 Pouds (Thlr. 660,800) =  62,144 Ozt.

1836: 1 Ozt. Platinum (Russian Yield, German Est.) = Thlr. 10.63
