At standard volumes, the weight of crucibles without covers did not vary significantly at different times, by manufactures, in different countries, etc. Where a 75 cc crucible weighed 25 grams and a 20 cc crucible weighed 6 grams, the price of 31 grams or 1 troy ounce may be estimated accordingly.

E.A. Gieseler reported this in a lecture, mid February 1888. In the Metrical Standard, the manufactured price of Platinum was clearly higher than Spot Gold.
