Scrap Platinum was repurchased by producers at ~ 81% - 85% of the refined ingot market price, or ~ 96% - 97% the presumed intrinsic rate of raw ore (platina.) Presumably, this also is the standard producer cost/profit spread for recycled Platinum at market rates.

Assume a 150 liter Platinum Still weighed 28.548 Kgs/ 917.84 Ozt on June 30, 1865. Worked consistently, assume a 28.55 Kgs Still lost 489 g (-15.73 Ozt) per annum; at June 30 1870, the depleted Platinum Still (26.1 Kgs) had lost outright 2,446 g. (- 78.63 Ozt.), but another 24% (201.76 Ozt) was scrapped and replaced. The total cost of 1870 repairs should include transport to and from Paris, all labor and additional Platinum.

If the reported 1865 Cost 1,071.47/Kg. included shipping, the total shipping o/w from Paris was Fr. 613. If weigh differentials allowed for, and the shipping rate assumed constant, the 1873 repairs (Fr. 3,430.) in Paris entail a r/t shipping cost of Fr. 560.50 + Fr 647.70 = Fr 1,208.20; labor and additional Platinum cost Fr. 2,222
