USA, 1848: NYC Catalogue (Pike)

In 1848/9, the NY wholesale catalogue price was +53% higher than Paris retail, +40.8% higher than London prices.  (Pike's "per ounce" sale weight appears to be avoirdupois. "Platina" and "platinum" are also used interchangeably.)

In 1848, Platinum wholesaled for 55% - 70% the Price of Gold.

1848/9: Troy Ounce of Platinum (refined, US whols.) = $ 10. - 15.
c.1848-9: 1 Ozt. Platinum (UK, mfg, retail)  = £ 1.60 - 1.90 (USD$ 7.79 - 9.25)
1848: 1 Ozt. Platinum (semi-mfg, retail)  = Fr 37.32 (USD$ 7.17)

1848:

Pike's advertised Platinum Lighning Rod Tips probably had ~10.9 g or 0.35 Troy Ounce Pt. but cost double Bollman's wholesale price to the US Navy, per unit.

1814: 1 Platinum Lightning Rod Tip (Producer whols.) = $ 1.67
1848: 1 Platinum Lightning Rod Tip (whols/retail) = $ 3. - 4.
