France, 1866: LOW Price for Platinum

October 1866 prices, for high school laboratories. Manufactured Platinum was 4x the Price of Manufactured Silver.

1866: 1 Troy Ounce Platinum (Semi-Mfg., Retail) = Fr. 31.1035 (USD$ 6.09)
1866: 1 Troy Oz. Platinum (Mfg., Ret.) = Fr. 31.1035 (USD$ 6.09)
1866: 1 Troy Oz. Silver (Mfg., Ret.) = Fr. 7.776 (USD$ 1.523)

Citation: Bulletin officiel, Vol. 6; Ministère de l'éducation nationale (1867) p.653

"According to reliable sources, in 1865 the price per kilo of refined Russian Platinum was Fr 501 and in 1866, from only Fr. 457 to 549."

Spink & Son : The Numismatic Circular, Vol. 15, May 1907 p. 9885:
"Nach zuverlässigen Quellen betrug der Kilopreis des gereinigten russischen Platins im Jahre 1865 501 Francs und 1866 gar nur 457 bis 549 Francs."

1866: 1 Troy Ozt. Platinum (SPb: Coin, Bulk) = Fr 17.0758 ($3.3427)
1866: 1 Troy Ozt. Platinum (SPb: Scrap, Bulk) = Fr 14.2143 ($2.7825)

It would appear from the Demidov's rates that the delivery cost was 38% of the higher rate;

the lower rate may not have included all taxes & fees, nor transport (~Fr 6.47/ozt)

At a purity of 86%, the Mint Russian refining cost was ~ Fr 1.25 (Rubles 0.31), a discount.

1866: 1 Troy Oz. Platinum (refined @ SPb ) = Fr 18.9881 (USD$ 3.717)

1866: 1 Troy Oz. platina (86%?ore @ SPb) = Fr 12.766  (USD$ 2.50)
1866: 1 Troy Oz. Iridosmine (ore @ SPb) = Fr 24.791 (USD$ 4.853)
1866: 1 Troy Oz. Platinum (Russian, Paris import) = Fr 23.55  (USD$ 4.61)

Where the Price of Silver was Fr 6.92, (POS x 2) = ~ Fr 14.
