France, 1822 - 1846: Palladium's Extraordinary Decline

In the ten years (1835-46) following Johnson's Brazilian palladium-gold refining, the price of Palladium had fallen -44%.

Even more extraordinary, in the previous twenty five years (1821-46) Palladium's price had fallen -76%.    

1846: 1 Troy Ounce Platinum (refined) = Fr  38.88 (USD$ 7.49) 

1821/2: 1 Troy Oz Palladium (mfg. @ Paris)  = Fr 591.85 - 610.85 (USD$114.50 - 118.13)
c. 1833: 1 Troy Oz. Palladium (refined, unmfg) ~ Fr 249 (USD$ 48.) 
1845: 1 Troy Oz. Palladium (semi-refined, unmfg) = Fr 199.04 (USD$ 38.34) 
1846: 1 Troy Ounce Palladium (refined) = Fr  139.95 (USD$ 26.69)

The Palladium Low in Sterling probably occurred prior to Johnston's decision to furnished the metal to the Geographical Society for the Wollaston Medal. (1846.)
