USA, 1865: Price of Platinum Wire, Foil

1865: 1 Ozt. Platinum (Frankfurt: Wire, Ret.) = $ 5.822 (Fl 14.308)
1865: 1865: 1 Ozt. Platinum (Paris: Mfg, Bulk) = $ 6.35 ; USD$ 10. (Fr 32.66)
1865: 1 Ozt. Platinum (Paris: Mfg, Bulk) = $ 6.48 ; USD$ 10.20 (Fr 33.33
Late 1865: 1 Ozt. Platinum (London: Ret.? Mkt) = $ 7.31 (£ 1.50)

From a telegraphic student's manual; 1 dwt. (pennyweight) = 1/20th Troy Ounce.  Catalogues in 1852, 1853 show Platinum Plate & Wire sold at the same rate.

It would appear the USD price is basically double the Producer's wholesale rate.

1865: 1 Troy Ounce Platinum (Manufactured, Wholesale)  = $ 12. - 15.
1865: 1 Ozt. Platinum (Mfg., Whols. @ Gold Rate)  = USD$ 18.88 - 23.60

Citation: Manual of Telegraphy Designed for Beginners, Prof. J. E. Smith (1865) p.75

Adjusting for Real Inflation since 1865 (3,584%) we can extrapolate a long term price for wholesale refined Platinum @ $  479.  (in 2009 USD$)  The respective platinum price is inflation-projected to ~ $ 553. per Troy Ounce in 2009 Dollars.
