At the Paris Exposition Universelle of 1878, Johnson & Matthey Co. exhibited 'more economical' manufactured platinum stills. 

1873: 1 Troy Ounce Platinum (scrap)  = Fr 25.19 (USD$ 4.84)

1878: 1 Troy Ounce Platinum (mfg. still)  = Fr. 31.10 (USD$ 6.03)
