USA, 1873/1875/1900: Metal Prices, Compared

Given the well-known price of silver was falling sharply, with strong likelihood that Silver the most accurate quotation,  a stated silver price of $1.29 a troy ounce specifies 1873.  (Some other metals price data might be somewhat earlier, not later.)

These types of estimations are broad, inexact and not market prices. For example, at the same time, Johnson, Matthey & Co's 1873 Vienna Catalogue cited Ruthenium for 3x as much.

c.1873: 1 Troy Ounce of Ruthenium = $96.
c.1873: 1 Troy Ounce of Rhodium = $ 48.
c.1873: 1 Troy Ounce of Palladium = $ 44.79
c.1873: 1 Troy Ounce of Osmium= $ 22.30
c.1873: 1 Troy Ounce of Platinum = $ 7.90
