However, a barrel of highest quality flour (196 lbs avd) in London, July 1801 was £ 5. - 5.75 (S$ 22.20 - 25.55) - the global price or flour was therefore volatile and inflated.


c. 1808, iron in bars and rods cost £ 9. per Spanish Quintal or S$ 0.86937 or the equivalent £ 0.19561 per kg.

 

The local Quintal-Price of imported iron at Lisbon in June 1808 in reis (£ 0.265 per milreis = £ 1.746 per Lisbon quintal) was equivalent to R$ 112.3366 (Milreis 0.11233 per kg. or the equivalent £ 0.0297 per kg.  At these rates, Swedish bar/rod iron would therefore have been 6.58x more expensive in Choco.
