In 1872, the Platinum cost was 67% in the retail price of a working still. Earlier attempts at coinage and the Russian Platinum-Siver Ratio of 5.2:1 are also mentioned.

Of a Continental refiner (1872): "Palladium, which this firm exhibits, is nearly twice as expensive as platinum in consequence of its only being found in one or two Brazilian gold mines, so that it must be looked upon more as a chemical curiosity than anything else."


It's likely that 1,000 Fr/kg is an average price for a number of years (since 1857?)
