USA, Late 1890s: Platinum High

In the late 1890s, refined and manufactured platinum was 3.35x more expensive than US platina (ore).

1897: 1 Troy Ounce platina (native US ore) ~ USD$ 5.
1897: 1 Troy Ounce imported platina (ore) = USD$ 8.37
1897/8: 1 Troy Ounce Platinum (refined, manufactured) = USD$ 17.   


1899: 1 Troy Ounce platina (native US ore) = USD$ 6.- 8.
1899: 1 Troy Ounce Platinum (refined, mfg.) = USD$ 20.

1902: 1 Troy Ounce Platinum ~ USD$ 19.
