UK, c.1820

Taylor & Simpson of Kingston Jamaica reported the common price was S$5.50/lb.

c.1818: 1 Troy Ounce platina (Kingston Spot)  ~ £ 0.096 - 0.10 (USD$ 0.3771)
1817: 1 Troy Ounce platina (Vaughan of Phila.)  = USD$ 0.41 (£ 0.1051 - 0.1097)
   

1819: 1 Troy Oz. platina (4-5cwt, BID)  = £ 0.1029 (USD$ 0.3827)
April 1820: 1 Troy Oz. platina (8,000 ozt BID)  = £ 0.1250 (USD$ 0.5042)

Wollaston recorded higher scrap prices paid to Johnson circa 1822.
 
October 1805-16: 1 Troy Oz. Platinum (Scrap, Trade)  = £ 0.25 (USD$ 1.00)

1816: 1 Troy Oz. Platinum (scrap, Fletcher)  = £ 0.5641
1820-22: 1 Troy Oz. Platinum (scrap)  = £ 0.6441 (USD$ 2.894)

c.1820: 1 Troy Oz. Platinum (Used Retort)  = £ 1.75 (USD$ 7.)

Sandmann's old retort cost them £700, and before long they had three.


 

Platina was presumed abit heavier, and the Specific Gravity as high as 20.
