Platinum Spoon: Size, Weight, Price








1838: 1 Troy Oz. Platinum (manufactured, whols./ret.)  ~ £ 1.45 (USD$ 7.07)

The so-called "blowpipe spoon" listed in Griffin (1838) contained approximately 2.15 grams of Platinum.

Smaller, make-shift "spoons" were contrived, perhaps to a weight as low as 1.2 grams.  A proper Platinum Spoon w/cover cost 8s.; approximate weight therefore ~ 5.18 grams
